Housekeeping
I’ve been a bit quiet the last couple of weeks, but now I’m ready to get back to posting more regularly. With a few weeks off from my day job, getting ready for the new semester to start, I’ve used the time to take care of a few things on my To-Do list.
One was to switch my website and blog from wordpress.com to a self-hosted wordpress.org site. It’s a difference I wasn’t aware of when I started building a website and blogging, but there are some downsides to using the .com side of wordpress–a bit less functionality, and needing to keep “wordpress” in my web address. Now I’ve switched over, so I’m at richardlevesqueauthor.com instead of the original, longer url I had. I’m still just getting used to the new way of navigating things and haven’t updated everything I need to update yet, but the bulk of the change has been taken care.
Another thing was to get a new cover for Take Back Tomorrow. When I released the book almost two years ago now, it had a DIY cover that looked decent but amateurish. Over the last two years, I’ve thought about switching it out, but whenever I asked people their opinions, I got enough positive feedback on it to demotivate the change. People said that even though the old cover looked a little do-it-yourself, it was also “charming,” so I left it. Enough is enough, though. My cover artist, Mark Walsh, has done such great work on my other books that I figured it was time to turn him loose on Take Back Tomorrow, and the result has been very nice. Here’s the new cover–still the same basic design as I had before, but much improved. Thanks, Mark!
And, speaking of the upcoming anniversary of Take Back Tomorrow (on January 24th), I decided to run some promotions for that week. More on that in a minute. But to get ready, I went through the files for the Kindle versions of my novels, fixed up the tables of contents in a couple, and added a new Author’s Note at the end of each as well as some short previews of my other books with the hope of luring readers to my Amazon page once they’ve finished reading. I’m also using the Author’s Note as a space where I can offer thanks to my readers, whom I’m grateful to, and to remind them to post reviews to Amazon.
Finally, the promotions: I’m going to be running some sales and giveaways next week, starting on the 20th and running through to the 24th. Some books will be free, and others will be marked down to 99 cents at various times throughout the week. I’ll be announcing the discounts as they come up, so be sure to check in next week!
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
